2004, My installation "Perfect World" is a recreation of a conceptual flashpoint. Inside a fenced in area hangs a homemade rope swing. The backyard tree swing carries with it associations of childhood and innocence. The swing is surrounded by a barrier constructed of wooden privacy fencing. While excluding others, it also isolates and restricts the swing. What was once perceived as functional and common is transformed into a confining descendent of the white picket fence.
